Good Morning! It’s Monday morning rant time! Here’s a story that’s been told far too often and unfortunately one that’s led many race tracks to their untimely demise…

Step 1. Build race track

Step 2. Race track runs successfully for many years

Step 3. Race track brings value to community and increases worth of nearby properties

Step 4. New neighbors move in without realizing how a race track works

Step 5. New neighbors then complain about noise and lobby to get race track shut down

As asinine as it sounds, this is how some race tracks have now become defunct. This time, Laguna Seca is under attack by the ‘Highway 68 Coalition’. It’s unclear how much traction their noise complaint will get but Laguna Seca has been a staple of the motorsports community since 1957. It would be a serious shame if some nosey neighbors’ lack of foresight managed to shut down such an iconic track.
